Shaman, Masters, Gurus can guide us, but why do we feel the need to put them in a position of ultimate authority? Pseudospiritual or real?

Today is full of pseudo spiritual, humanity's need to raise others above us, or to make ourselves above others or put someone above ourselves? What are Masters, Shaman, Gurus'etc, Why do we need brand ourselves as followers or follow others who we think are special, as superior? The truth is we are all special and have unique gifts. U G Krishnamurti, the Indian teacher said, "Don't follow me, I'm lost." Let's explore how we can discover that vast place within ourselves and still find guidance from people who have gifts that we can benefit from. Mostly we are not okay with who we are and so we have to raise ourselves up or raise others to a place beyond us or others? Yet we all have the same access, if we know the bridges to get there.
