Shame Is A Heavy Burden To Carry: Let It Go - Tone Egelund
from SoulScape · host Paul D. Lowe
The paradox with shame, is that it’s a subject that in itself is shameful to talk about. After Tone Egelund suffered a stroke, she was forced to confront an uncomfortable reality. Partially paralyzed and suddenly semi-immobilized, Tone was forced to confront her own shame in suddenly not matching up to society’s ideals. Listen to her incredible story, and hear how she learned to master her shame, and in turn, how she learned to master life… ABOUT THE GUEST Tone Egelund Tone got a cerebral hemorrhage at work in 2009 – aged 50 – an event that changed her life dramatically. She had a spiritual awakening in the hospital; becoming aware of key questions like... What if she could inspire fellow employees, by sharing her life story? Also invite long-term sick volunteers to share their life experiences too?. Inspire more openness and dialogue about releasing shame at work?Great questions – but maybe bad timing… The company’s staff was downsized in 2017 with no more room for Tone. She lives now on disability benefits. Tone had a short – but amazingly emotional and powerful presentation at Steinar Ditlefsen’s «IGNITE» https://steinarditlefsen.dk/ignite/ in February 2019, talking about her shame. She invited appreciative listeners to look with new eyes – listen with new ears – at the subject of disability benefits. Her life mission as a heart-powered Lightworker is opening eyes to the immense strength of our sensitivity and vulnerability. Melting shame with empathy too. Dr. Brené Brown’s qualitative science about shame, vulnerability and wholeheartedness has inspired Tone immensely. This particular podcast episode from Tone is unprepared, unedited and on-purpose. Despite its perceived imperfection and nakedness from the truly inspirational Tone, it’s an episode that captures her immense bravery, yet vulnerability.
