We look at Dr. Brene Brown’s work on this impactful emotion and I give you my perspective of this emotion as well as a way to own shame so you can then release it. I also speak to emotions in general and my perspective on the reality of emotions. You see, I think that we cannot have positive emotions without the negative ones.  And in my mind, it’s not healthy to strive to only be happy, only have peace. It’s not realistic and I think if we can’t own it, we can’t conquer it. Maester Brene defines shame “as the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love and belonging—She says it’s something we’ve experienced, done, or failed to do making us unworthy of connection”. So, while shame can feel like we have been broken, or knocked down a peg our ability to be resilient despite it, is really a huge arsenal for us.  This week we talk about creating your action plan to grow from this emotion.   You see, Shame thrives until you own it.  Because if you don’t release it, it will hold you and own you.
