Shammah fighting for Lentils: Standing for What Belongs to the Lord (2 Samuel 23)

In 2 Samuel 23, Shammah stood alone in a field of lentils while the people fled from the Philistines. To others, it may have looked like a small piece of ground. But to faith, it was part of Jehovah’s inheritance.This meditation considers what the lentil field speaks of spiritually: the simple, sustaining truths that feed the people of God — Scripture, holiness, obedience, a good conscience, the Lord’s table, and the glory of Christ.
