Shane's Shorts - Religious Trauma

from Being YOU! · host Shane Hodges, Counselor & Author

Religious trauma is something that many people have experienced...myself included.  It's the emotional, physical, and psychological harm that can be caused by oppressive, abusive, or high-control religious environments and doctrines. Symptoms include anxiety, depression, shame, and guilt, among other things.  Working through this trauma involves deconstructing harmful beliefs, validating the experience, creating new support systems, and often working with a therapist. If you have experienced religious trauma, please know...you are not alone. And If you need further assistance in processing your trauma, please reach out to a mental health professional. Take care of yourselves, be yourselves, and have a great day!#authenticity #itstimetobeyou #sphproductions #religioustrauma #youarenotalone
