This is the Best Hang Podcast. Me, Trang, Max Kerman, Shane Cunningham, and I and Mike Guirman. Here's a secret. Welcome to the Best Hang Podcast.
That might be a match. We got Shane. We're all here in the same room, recording in Toronto. On serial.
Canada. Fellas, what's going on? It's good to see your faces. I mean, Shane, I see you all.
We talked about today. It's good to see Max. That's an ashes role. Hello.
Good to see you guys in person. It's good to be here. I like doing this in person. Yeah, rumor has it.
You bumped into a Shane act on the way here. I did. Earlier today, someone rolled down the window. I love it when they go.
Love the pod. Yeah. Because I'm expecting them to say, love our cows. And that's boring to me.
I'm just going to get it. Old hat. Old hat. No, when they say love the pod.
And then I was like, I need to film this. I can send it to the pod group. And then I was like, all right, say that again. And then she started to describe who she was.
I was like, no, not that. Say I love the pod. And I'm a Shane act. Oh, you forced her to say that.
Oh, no. She said that originally. She said, I love the pod. I'm a Shane act.
I got my phone out. And I said, do it again. And then she started talking about other stuff. And then I made her do it again.
Do you ever run into Michael Paths when you're walking around? Michael Paths is a great name. No, see, I feel like a Michael Path wouldn't appreciate him being called that. I feel like the Michael Path would be too woke.
Except that. You're the woke crowd? Maybe. I don't know.
Let's talk about that with each one of our individual audiences. Where do the politics land? Most sophisticated fan would be a mic fan. Yeah, what about my fans?
Your fans would, their political college people, they probably never drank more than four beers. She's like, the Shane acts are the more like I was surprised that that shit was like, you know, there's like, there's like, there's like, guys, and there's birdie bros and sometimes they're the same. So you send the video of the nice woman who was a Shane act and Shane wrote, is this the most hinged Shane act I've ever seen? Well, I to see her behind the wheel of a vehicle.
That was I was like, whoa, Shane, I can drive. Like that doesn't seem like my audience. But I can't see it. I can't see it.
I can't see it. I can't see it. I can't see it. I can't see it.
I can't see it. I can't see it. I can't see it. So, what are your fans called?
Max. MaxiPads. Oh, my God. That's my nickname.
You talked about it was a good three, that's my great three? Yeah. I just felt it was a cool name. It was a cool name.
Because we're going to be MaxiPads. My name is like... And then eventually somebody said that's not what she wanted to call it. Then I realized I did not want to be called it.
But I still didn't quite understand what a MaxiPads was. Can we bring it back? MaxiPads. No, I mean, that's my DJ name.
Maybe that's my DJ name. How does one get out of a nickname they don't want? I mean, because there's a famous star with our I don't know what happened was he, Jules is a bit with his roommate Mike, was that Mike, your name is so ordinary, I'm just gonna call you other ordinary names. So I'm gonna call you John, I'm gonna call you Jack.
I'm just gonna call you anything but your nor ordinary name Mike. And so he said, one day he called him Doug, and then Mike goes, don't call me Jug, and then Jules is eyes lit up, he goes, oh, oh, oh, oh, you're a Jug, he's been Jug ever since. Ever since, his wife even calls him Jug. Oh, he's just gonna say that, that's so strange.
Yeah, yeah. Does that Alex have any pet names for you, Shane? Would you call you Shane? No, I think the fact that was saying that all couples all each other's babe.
Babe, and then it annoys people, people don't like that. Yeah, when you're in it, it's kind of fun to say babe, but then if you're watching from the outside, it's still revolting. You know, was that Jared Diggs Cottage, like before the pandemic? And we kept seeing babe and he was so annoyed.
Yeah, it's really an odd manifest, not a J like, he just was like, okay babe. Every time we said it, he would repeat it to try to humiliate us and it really worked. Like it felt stupid for saying it. What is the acacaly?
Where babe people is your baby, babe. But also just Mikey, Mikey, Mikey, Mikey, Mikey. When the aca's piss it, he's just Mike, Michael, fuck face. I'm actually saying.
You're not listening. Michael, no, no, who calls me Michael? The only two people in my life that ever called me Michael, or my mother, during the party, my mother, called me Michael, and weirdly our former boss, creator, friend, Randall Graham, would call me Michael sometimes. Those are the only people that ever called me Michael in my life, which is interesting.
Does anyone call you Robert? That's your given name. No, no, no, no. Robert, would you say most of our Cal fans know that you're a middle name first man?
No, probably not. I think most of them don't know that. And when they find out, it's kind of a cool reveal. I like their reveal.
It's like good, our Cal's trivia, I feel like. It's like a party trick. One of my party tricks. The normal move is to just add a Y to the person's name and say boy afterwards, right?
Chaining boy. Yeah, people say Maxi Willa. Yes, yeah, yeah. Guys, I'm on the same ring as Maxi Pet.
Ash, do you have a nickname? I think just Ash. If people say Ash, they're mad at me. I don't know if they go with the full name.
Do you find that people who don't know, you call you manager Ash? I like that. One thing that's weird though, because for spelling purposes, I make my email address just Ash at, because the rest was super long. But then people will officially pass it on and be like, like, meash, pot of it, or contracts will come through like that.
And I feel like that's not me. Like that's super weird. Like it's like a full name with a nickname is not good. Yeah, Ash, yeah, I never call her Ashly.
Ashly, that's weird. Ashly. Yeah. Guys, did you see succession?
Of course. Yes. Can we talk about it for a minute? Let's talk about it for a minute.
Let's talk about it for a minute. We gotta get this spot up quick, because it can't be after episode three or something. Should we let listeners know? We've been on an Odyssey listeners.
You may or may not have noticed that our most recent pod came out, you know, we talk about the Oscars, we talk about the Juneos. And I think it came out like we got a red hot, right? Like about two weeks after those events. I'm going to be on the show, which we talked about on this podcast.
Nathan Nash, wonderful producer. He went on vacation in New York City. I believe it was his wife's wife, Marie's birthday. Is that what they were in NYC?
Yeah. So anyway, so it was like people were gone and busy. And then the pod just kind of floated there and it didn't really get through everything. Nathan edited immediately.
And then we had it was on it. He was on it. And then I cut it really quick. I spent my Monday.
So it lands on? No, but see. I'm like, sent it to me late at night, but texts at after 10 30 in the morning. I don't look at those.
I only see the day of text. So Mike, when you do that, you have to say, Hey, Shane, I sent you the pod. I did a double verification. I mailed it to you.
So what's your email? I went to the night and I also texted you the link and I said, yeah, you know, you just I checked. You just text me the link. Oh, oh, got you.
So with the link, it's like, Hey, here's the stems. Yes. And so when you're in mail and we were hanging out quite a bit and then in the hangout, you have to say, Hey, Shane, I sent you that pod because normally you do a reminder. Yeah.
You know what it was though? You were also in like sound mix mode. So I just, you know, you were so hyper focused. I just assumed you were like, it's like, this is what we're doing now.
I'll do pod when I go home and then just kind of wait for a mistake. It's happened and I understand Mike and I'm doing all I'm doing consensus. But ultimately I am we are as a group as a collective. So we're going to listen to other shinders like to remind us all that it is free entertainment, but we're sorry to get there as quickly as we like to.
We learned, but we're going to get this episode up before episode two. Yeah. Well, let's put it. Let's put it.
Monday Tuesday. You can tell you're like a touring successful band when you don't know the days of the night. You never know. Tuesday three forty five.
Let's say up by Thursday. The show is a show, not many for all these awards. We all watch and we talked about it on this podcast before. So they go into this last season.
It's the fourth season and after it was shot, the creator Jesse Armstrong announces this is it. Usually there's a lot of fanfare you know before you go in, which makes me really wonder what the what the final episodes like if even the actors weren't totally short, they were coming back for season five or not. Yeah. But I like the move because it does.
The whole thing about succession is essentially like every season the kids try to thwart their powerful dad. I'm sure you've seen the show, but if you haven't put primary is it's kind of like a Fox news, like Murdoch family type deal where this guy's made a fortune, you know, this media empire and he's getting old and then his kids are trying to take it over and he basically have these like family in fights for this huge meeting glomer and all this power bubble on your seat. Anyway, every season it's just are the kids going to defeat their father, Logan Roy, who's become a pretty iconic character. And and this season is no different.
It's now the kids against the dad. But she and I were just talking with this earlier. This shows written so well and is so entertaining that you don't even care that they're basically just running back the exact same story arc four years in a row. But that's why this feels like the right time to potentially get out.
Yeah, I did feel like last season it got pretty same Z. Yeah. It doesn't matter because when the writing is sharp and funny, like this is I thought last episode was the funniest episodes of the entire one. The one just there.
Yeah. So many fucking funny one. I mean, you laugh the most. Well, just even off the top when all the kids are hanging out with one another is like, we want it to be like New York Times being a sub-stack.
It's like we want to be like a nonprofit with crazy margins. We want to be a members only club, but for everybody. And like throughout the entire episode. And what I love about it is that it's written by these British guys and there's some British actors on it.
And there's a style of British comedy that is very sarcastic, very throw away, very sort of muttering under your breath that you're used to when it comes to British humor, but done by Americans. Obviously a different thing, but it's so well done. And you just love the characters. I don't even know who my favorite character is.
The big question about the show is, is it a drama that is funny? Or is it a dark comedy that also has a bit of drama? It feels more like a comedy to me. And this is where the actor plays Logan Roy, Brian Cox said a couple years ago in an interview is he's like, I've always played it like a comedy.
I think this is a comedy, you know what I mean? But I think a lot of people see it as like a prestige drama that has funny elements. But you see it as a comedy. Yeah, it's a comedy that makes you feel like you're watching a drama.
So you feel kind of smart. Anytime it starts getting too smart, it'll have the stupidest part in it. Boron the floor or something crazy. Or like a cousin Greg, insert a scene with cousin Greg.
Yeah, disgusting brothers. It's the same guy who's who graded VEEP, right? Is there a VEEP adjacent thing? I don't know.
I'm not a VEEP guy. I love the people of it. I haven't seen you. I don't think Jesse Armstrong's got to create it.
But I think Arnondo Yunucci is involved. And he was one of the guys who... VARNON. Arlana Arlana Arlana.
I mean, Jesse Armstrong's got to create a show called The Thick of It, which is a British Show. And I think that was the beginnings of VEEP. But I think Jesse Armstrong, that's something to do with that show. Interesting.
That's because Brian Cox got involved because he loved the show The Thick of It, which like Matt Civelli and Sean Dawson, who are big fans of British comedy they recommended me years ago. I was impressed with your pronunciation. Right, Cox on Scottish though, right? Yeah, you know over there.
Oh, same thing. Yeah, over there. Shane, who's a favorite character? I never know names of characters.
I always want to call Roman... Do you want to call him? To call him? To call him Roman, right?
Yeah. He's my favorite character. He's so funny. He's the best.
He's so funny. Second favorite. And what's the guy I always think is Roman? Who's the other guy?
Kendall. Kendall. Yes, he's hilarious. Kendall's...
Well, you know he's a method actor, right? Max Korn. Jesse Armstrong did right on V. There you go.
Yeah. We're talking about our guy who had the big profile. I'm blank answer. Thank you.
Thank you. All you can think about is his methodology, his methodology, the rest of the cast. Why would he need to do that? To just do Kendall?
Yeah, exactly. It feels largely one note. Who wrote? And everyone hates them like what Brian Cox dislikes him.
Yeah, Brian goes like, well you know, British like just act. He doesn't dislikes him, he dislikes his methodology. Yeah. There's like an old anecdote I don't have a verd bit on, but I think it's about...
It might be like Richard Burton or Lawrence Olivier or one of these consider great British actors. And somebody asked him about the whole method acting thing. It's like that's what's called acting. Like that's literally like that's the job.
Yeah. Yeah, you don't have to be the thing. No, wait, what's cousin Greg's guy? What's his character's name?
Cousin Greg? No, Cousin Greg's guy, his buddy. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. Tom. Tom. Tom.
Tom. I don't know if this last week about like, Knives Out and how that particular brand of comedy murder is kind of in and funny, but like done really well. It must be just really hard to pull off from. It's dark, man.
It's dark. It's funny. It feels like a straight drama that has funny elements. Yeah.
Oh, okay. I always looked at men as a comedy too. Cause that's the only kind of, we'll just end up showing it. We saw more as a comedy.
It's a panist comedy. Funny elements as a prance? Yeah. Sopranos I look at as a comedy too.
Like the menu and look as a comedy. Breaking Bad's a comedy. Yeah. What's a drama for you?
A like Revolutionary Road, things like that. A marriage story. Who's your favorite character? Did you say?
I think Roman is my favorite. Romans character is like probably weirdly. Originally it was like shit was the most relatable. Okay.
She's kind of the most human, but weirdly Roman with all this, even though he's, you know, got a lot of issues. Seems like he has the most empathy in the heart and is the most clear headed when they're talking about the business. You know, you're talking about this started. They want to be called the 100, which is the mix of the economists and all these fucking things.
It's like he at least seems the clearest. I don't know. He's out of the three. He's like the guy that feels, I don't know, weirdly the most relatable.
Does that make sense? Yeah. Yeah. But he's got good like senses.
He kind of knows what's bullshit and what's not bullshit. And for how mean he actually seems to be the most like sensitive or something or at least aware of other people, how other people feel. Did you see he was unfallen and he had a bit that he doesn't really sit on chairs? Like he always sits weirdly.
Oh, yeah. And they kind of go into that, like all these different scenes where he's like sitting just like not normally. And I was like, that's an interesting acting move. Why can't he sit normal?
I don't know. He started to do it. And that's just like kind of in his nature in his character. Guys, tell me on the last of us what I like it.
Yeah. Well, I don't know. I guess considering your personality, maybe you don't. I didn't get past episode three.
Oh, that makes me feel like a three though. Who was the best? But you knew. The problem is you know it's not getting any better than I.
Because like can you spoil everyone's scene episode? They haven't seen it. Oh, okay. Can we spoil it?
Let's go. Because they die in episode three. If they love story and then sleep, you know, they die. It's beautiful and all that.
But then it's back to just zombie world. And there's people running from zombies. Does the zombie show? Yeah.
Here's my here's my here's my like elevator pitch. Why it works and why it's good is so it does they basically open with this amazing sort of pseudoscience sort of like speech that takes place in like some talk to where they talk about it won't be like a virus that wipes out mankind or it could be. But essentially it's like fungus is this thing. So we use fungus and like kind of selling another thing to heal like viruses and like that.
But there's a certain fungus that I guess would get into the brains of ants and this fungus could control ants essentially. Now when fungus gets to a certain temperature, it dies off. This guy was positing in like late 60s. Well, if the if the earth ever got to a certain level of temperature where the fungus wouldn't die off, this fungus could maybe like host in things larger than ants or whatever like humans.
So essentially the start of the zombie apocalypse is basically this sort of like this mushroom type thing that can control the way that you know, use the human bodies to host and then communicate everything else. So that's sort of like the setup. That's how the world falls in like 2020, I think or whatever. And then we jump ahead 20 years.
So they sort of you see everything fall and the Pedro Pascal character with his family how it all ends and then it jumps ahead and then it comes back to the old world before and jumps kind of jumps around. But the reason it works and I think the reason people are connecting with the show is it's not really a zombie show like the Walking Dead. Like the Walking Dead is about killing zombies or being chased by zombies. Here's a zombie.
I don't think of like one episode of the eight where like maybe two where the zombies were like chasing them is really like what's the first two episodes? Yeah. When they're escaping like they kind of introduce the types of zombies there are. Okay.
I didn't make it past. There was a lot of zombie chasing. Yeah. Back and there's not a lot and really it's a story about what is worth living for.
Are we just living to survive? Like are we just trying to not die at the hands of the zombies and are we just like raping and killing each other and like feening for resources or is there like something else we can find in this broken world where there's not many of us left and so it's really like a human story about what we do and how we relate to one another and what's worth living for. Is it just surviving or is it something more? Is it music?
Is it art? Is it connection? I mean that's why the show succeeds is because it's like a meditation on that more so than. Can you tell me what it is?
What is worth living for? Each other. Yeah. Okay.
It's a relationship between Joel and Ellie and you know what I mean and the relationship and the little communities that have formed that have managed to protect themselves and you know and there's like terrible people out there because obviously the worst of us are going to be opportunistic in those moments or maybe realistic. It's like you'll kill me for my food before I kill you and it's like but can we talk before we shoot each other? Can we find connections? You know all that stuff and the reason episode three is so successful is because it's a bottle episode about this like sort of like opens with this sort of like very trump like survival guy in his basement as the world sort of falling but he kind of avoids when the arm clears with the town's link and has the town to himself so it's a bit like a home alone fantasy but then he meets another guy and they like they came up.
They fall in love and then it spans their relationship with next 25 years and it's like a ball up so that basically tells their story in like 72 minutes and it's perfect. That's my cell. That was more than elevator. It's a very tall building a thousand elevator.
To get to the 104. This time they get interesting to you and we're depressing. More than press. I'm not going to watch it.
Yeah. Yeah. I don't think you'd like it. Joel jackets should have watched that.
I should have said I should watch it. People love it. I haven't seen that. No.
This is one apparently is amazing. That's a little bit of a project. No. It's basically like there was an incident with a soccer team.
You had a plane crash and it's kind of Lord of the Flies thing and then it fast forwarded while they're all like adults now. I watch like an episode. And they're like we have to reckon with what they've done. Yeah.
See how in? Yeah. You hate Amy but we can't tell anybody. Yeah.
Just nodding your head. This is my guest from kind of having a roundabout idea what the show's about. Do you guys, would you guys eat your friends behind you? No.
Just listening to the re-watchables that are live. They were asking, they were talking about that. We used to movie a live. Of course.
That's like a live. You'd be such a seminal movie. It's not the best plane crash scenes. Oh, I don't know.
It's like a soccer team that's traveling to a game and they're playing crashes. It's true story. Crashes in like the Andes and mountains. And basically they have to survive for however long a month.
I don't know. But they have to be like each other. It's very realistic. It's a really pretty big movie in the 90s.
The Ethan Hawks most famous person. Oh yeah. Wow. He's really good in it.
But it does make it seem like eating someone wouldn't be that bad. Oh. Just like if you cook them up right or... When alive, they're frozen.
Yeah. It's like the bodies are in the snow. So they can cut off a piece of butt and it might be bad. The blood is the best part to eat.
And then they actually started liking the food a little bit. So they're waiting for a guy to die. And he thinks he got in there like fuck you and they like freak out on him because he's actually like waiting for the food to be ready. He died.
I recommend that movie though. It's very cool. I haven't watched it since the 90s. Oh, sorry.
We're talking about what we eat each other. Yes. Well, you'd have to. You'd have to.
Honestly, I would be just so over it. I'm like, guys, just kill me. I don't want to go through this. I don't live with the PTSD of having like eaten my friends and so I'm just I'm good.
So you think like in a moment of extreme survival, you probably just pack it in. Oh, yeah. Are you kidding me? Yeah.
Because it's just like you're just going to be haunted by that for the rest of your life is eating your friends and you have to go out a friend would be so weird. Yeah. I don't need it. Flushing them all the way up working toilet when there is no actual food.
That's true. Yeah. What would I do in those? See, I think sometimes like you guys don't play poker, but sometimes like when you play poker if you're like short-sacked, you kind of just got to hang around like you pass on a few hands.
Like you don't get aggressive. You don't make your move. You don't want to go out. You know what I mean?
I think in like a surround situation like that. I wouldn't be the first to give up. I might be the first to give up. I would kind of see it out.
Do you think you'd be super aggressive at survival? Yeah, you would. You're super competitive. Yeah, it depends.
You're kids and stuff. No, but if it was like totally fruitless and you knew you were just eating to stay alive for a little bit longer and you probably aren't going to get saved, I would kind of want to die. Yeah. This is also assuming we're in like a bro crash.
You know, when it's like I was getting my friends, I'm going to crash and my kids, it's like I just want to die anyway. If my kids are like gone and I would just want to die, I would give up. That would be a good thing. Oh, you're all.
No, no, no, no. My question was kind of eating people actually. We just blasted through. We did talk with succession.
That was the one. Do you guys know that knowing that is the final season, did it make you watch up so one differently? No, I was just excited to see it. Did you know it's the last season?
Yeah, I knew it was the last season. I felt it made me savor it more. I was just going to say that. I'm really appreciating this and anything that I felt like didn't ring true was a little bit like silly.
I didn't care. I was willing to forgive. I just loved it. So should we just tell everybody that every R calzone is going to be the last album?
So people like listen to it. I'd like the third time you pulled that shit. People still show up. 50 Cent did that too.
It was a lot of retiring or the band's breaking up or taking hiatus. I'll tell you that if you say this is the last album this is what people would give you a big deal. We should do that. People say, you're working on a record right now.
So great. I have songs you got but 10. I can feel the rooms. I know we're working on it.
We're always working on stuff. We're doing a hits album or more like a jam record. It's different than other records. Okay, so it's not joking.
No joke. No joke. Oh man. So yeah, okay, what else is going on?
There's lots of fun. I had a funny kind of moment in my life that happened the other night. I got a nurse invited me over to watch College of Basketball the other night. And he ended up in a recession over time.
Head coach at the Toronto Rags. Head coach at the Toronto Rags. And he talks to book club Matty often. And I was like, I'm gonna bring Matty.
It's great. Sounds good. It's pretty sure Derek was there. So it's basically just book club Matty, pretty sure Derek, coach, nurse and Nate Bjorkin showed up eventually.
He's like walks in the door. It's always open. He's gonna like, can't appear in the worst watching basketball. And he snacks there.
Yeah, and they provided some pizza. And he got like a beer fridge that he's easy. He doesn't drink. Yeah, but he does have a nice little set.
Where does he get pizza from? He ordered pizza this time. Ooh. Rich boy.
Yeah. It is most expensive. Yeah, but we had some twizzlers. It's weird when you hang out, like people in sports, their salaries are very public.
So you know what Nick makes based on Sean's reporting on these people. Do you think it's weird for him to just like, he doesn't know what people, like whatever I just ask you what you make. It seems only fair. I also think I make a lot more money than I do.
Right. So yeah, sometimes I have to kind of pick up that pizza. So we hang out and we're like talking about basketball, right? Because that's like a fun thing to talk about.
And for my whole like, probably the duration of like my relationship with Club Matty is he just tells me statistics and like, he's well researched in everything we talk about. So I'll have like an opinion and it will actually the stat on that is actually wrong. So you're painting is wrong. It's actually this.
Okay, cool. I'm always like learning stuff from Matt. So then we're talking about basketball and like players and players in the NBA and our team and stuff like that. And then Matt just starts like rhyming off stats to Nick Nurse about the Raptors.
And he goes, well, actually the defense right here. And then Nick is like, what are you talking about? That's what's that is that? I've never even heard that stat.
And Matt sort of explaining to Nick that how it actually is. So what's the rotation? And then Nick just like, Matt, like whatever you're reading, never read that again. Because that's wrong.
And then Matt can help himself because you know, it's a very fun conversation. That's actually, no, no, you don't think so. He wasn't like arguing with the coach of the Raptors, but he was like making sure his point was absurd. And then Nick was sort of like leaning back into it.
And it was just surreal for me being in the middle. I was like literally in the middle. You have to be loving it though. Well, it was a little stressful because I was like, is he going to say something that's going to really offend Nick?
But Nick was having a great time. But I was like, so funny, like in this surreal situation, I'm like, hang on the heck of the Raptors, which is like weird in itself, but awesome because he's become like a real friend. And there's like many moments where we hang in chat and we're just like fucking guy. And then I kind of zoom out and go, that's a good question.
And then to someone I want to eat the plane crash. Sorry, that's good. Matt who I've just been pals with forever, who's been doing the same thing at any, you know, dinner party or group hang or anything ever, like we've all hung out with Matt and he's has many brilliant, interesting things to say and I'm always learning, but he's not afraid to like add to the bank, actually until you actually, but it's just funny to hear him explaining the NBA to the head coach of the Raptors. It's very funny.
And at the end of it, Nate is just sort of like hanging out kind of observing this back and forth and he's like, all right, well I got to go Nick. Let me know when these guys come over here again. He's pretty interesting. That's funny and I guess it was very fun.
What was the Whoops game? What was college? which was a Kansas state game or something. Oh yeah, but we're flipping around.
It was fun. You watch any March Madness? None at all. I don't watch culture.
Yeah, what's you going to get into? It's fun, but I know some people don't like the style of players. It's kind of wacky. Yeah, it was fun.
But shout out to the book club, Matty. Book club, Matty. Cool. We ended up winning the debate.
Well, I was a coach, nurse one. That's a good feeling. Yeah. He was also hosting.
So at some point as a guest, you probably have to acquiesce. Even if you're Matty, you think you're right. Well, this is the great thing about Nick, too, is that Nick likes people, right? I think Matt made the conversation like that was more fun and interesting.
And Nick, it was like, you want to say when you go out to dinner, something like you want to get into an argument with someone? Those are kind of the best dinners. Either you cry out of tears of just connection and love for somebody. That happens to you in a regular basis.
That's one of the options. That's an option. Or you're arguing fiercely about something. Something that you both care about.
You want to feel something either way. You're just going to sit there. What are you doing? I feel like there's usually a point in a dinner party or hang with somebody, especially if you don't know that well, where they're like, something turns, and you actually start talking about like real life stuff.
And then somebody's like, you cry more in these interactions, or do you find you're like yelling more in the interactions? I like a good cry. I don't know if I'm much of a yeller or an arguar. I like being around.
I don't argue much, but I like when people get really fired up and argue. And then you laugh at that. Yeah. You lighten the argument.
Yeah. And also, I'm sort of like a fan. I'm rooting for the argument. So I think if you guys were at dinner, you guys were like, arguably who's the best SNL cast member?
You're just screaming at each other. I'm a virtual and I, we're arguars. Yeah. We'll slap each other.
That's actually why he slapped me once. He slapped me once. He slapped me. Why did he slap me?
Because I didn't want to drink a beer at a party. Like, I just didn't want to drink that night. And he really wanted me to drink. So he was like, come on, drink.
And I said, no. And then he slapped me. So it was just a bite. And I apologize.
It was just a bite. But the live show, you did get to slap him back. Yes. I got revenge on him at the live show at the Riveli.
And he's coming to the Riveli show, by the way. Yeah, we should promote that. We're doing a live show at the Riveli. Will you be there, Max?
I'll be there. OK, that'll sell tickets. OK, Max is going to be there. So buy tickets to $30.
For some of the color from Kids in the Hall, Yeah, hopefully it's good. It could be bad, but coming with low expectations. And Bruce's show, his portion, he's the headliners, always we've seen that before. So we know that's going to kill.
Yeah, that's great. Yeah. All right, what else is going on? Mikey, what have you been doing?
Anything useful? Yeah, yeah, what do I do? I did do something this weekend. I don't want to seem like you prompted me.
And it was so I would say. You do something handy? Oh, that's a good question. Yeah, so we've talked in this podcast before about, you know, we're not really soft skills guys.
You know, we're like, extremely. You're going to like fix stuff around that. I don't even go that way. Have you gone away with your place, Max?
