Shannon Eyes UNF Presidency | Jacksonville News

Michael Shannon, current president of the University of North Georgia and a decorated Army veteran, is poised to become the next president of the University of North Florida after a five-month search. Under his leadership, UNG surpassed 20,000 students and expanded academic offerings. With a unique background that includes West Point, Georgia Tech, and 20 years in the military, Shannon calls UNF and Jacksonville “extraordinary opportunity.” He’ll visit campus in September for forums before interviews and a final vote by the board — with approval also needed from the State University System’s Board of Governors.
