Prof. Georg Wernicke is an expert in corporate governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR), focusing on how CEO values and public opinion influence corporate behavior and reputation. His research delves into key issues such as CEO compensation, corporate misconduct, and the impact of prosocial practices. His work has been published in leading journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal, and has earned numerous prestigious awards. Currently, Prof. Wernicke is the Dieter Schwarz Foundation Chaired Associate Professor of Strategy at HEC Paris, where he teaches Strategic Management and continues to make significant contributions to research in CSR and corporate governance. Prof. Wernicke holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Mannheim and degrees from University College London and Humboldt University of Berlin. His Ph.D. dissertation won the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation Best Dissertation Award. Before his current role at HEC Paris, he served as an Assistant Professor in Corporate Governance at Copenhagen Business School and held visiting scholar positions at institutions such as NYU Stern School of Business, University of Antwerp, Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, and INSEAD. In 2023, Prof. Wernicke was awarded the BnP Paribas Vernimmen Teaching Prize at HEC Paris, recognizing his outstanding teaching and commitment to delivering impactful learning experiences.
