Sharing ideas - working with other Christian Churches and other faiths

The Catholic bishops responsible for dialogue with other religions and other Christian Churches held a meeting in Nottingham on 26 March with advisers and coordinators in this field of work from the dioceses of England and Wales. The meeting had a focus on Catholic-Jewish dialogue and was hosted by Bishop Patrick McKinney at St Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham. Bishop McKinney is Chair of the Bishops' Conference Office for Relations with Other Religions: "It has been good for us to gather together to share ideas and to look at the joys and challenges of being engaged in interfaith and ecumenical work. "There's lots of common ground and we've taken away lots of good ideas - not least that when there are obstacles in this work, what binds us all together is a love of food and music - something that brings people together." Bishop McKinney also offered Mass in St Barnabas Cathedral in Nottingham for those who died in the horrific terror attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand: "I offered the Mass for all those who died and were affected by the Christchurch killings in New Zealand. I also offered the Mass for the intentions of both Jews and Muslims who have been affected by attacks on synagogues and mosques closer to home."
