Sharing Sox Podcast 26 — Real Kinda Sorta Games Edition — 2021-03-04
from Sox Populi - A Chicago White Sox podcast · host Sox Populi
Yea! Baseball! Well, sorta, if you think baseball is when you just stop an inning whenever you feel like it. Which, admittedly, requires its own sort of strategy. This week, SSS duty geezer Leigh Allan and son and west coast corespondent, Will, have fun lashing into the incredible stupidity of a multi-billion dollar organization so incompetent it can’t decide what rules and lineups half of its members will play under in a season that begins in less than a month, as well as enjoying the concept of end-an-inning-any-old-time spring training. There is a serious disagreement — is MLB run so badly if the commissioner headed Amazon it would just be a corner store in Iowa somewhere, or would that store have closed by now? As for actual baseball, we look at the good things the White Sox have shown so far (Lucas Giolito! Andrew Vaughn! Adam Engel! Just about all the hitters who will actually be on the team!) And then we delve into the one terrible, horrible, no good, very bad thing made much more obviously worse by Jonathan Lucroy’s defense Tuesday — the fact the Sox really have no backup catcher better than randomly picking a fan out of the stands (even one of those Covid-induced cardboard fans).
