Today, our guest is Dr. Shahriar Hossain, a journalist, ecologist, and social justice advocate. Born in Bangladesh, he has been a pivotal leader in the global anti-plastic movement. Hossain is one of those public intellectuals that seems to have lived a hundred lives already. In brief, he is a reporter and editor, including membership in the Society for Environmental Journalists. He also has earned degrees in international relationships and a PhD journalism in India, as well as a PhD in environmental studies from Duke University. He has served as visiting faculty and a diplomat globally. He also is the founder and director of the Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO) since 1990.Recorded: October 7, 2021.
