“SHARP CURVES. FALLING ROCKS. SEVERE SLIDES.” a music of protest...

from Cliff Crego · host Cliff Crego

This little soundpoem music of protest features a version of my PERCUSSION STUDY no. 5 (1.33333 (the ratio of 4 in the time of 3 that generates much of the piece...)). The theme is CLIMATE JUSTICE. The wider circle which is is implied is, it seems to me, as obvious as it is simple: Climate Crisis will never be addressed properly in a serious way without at the same time addressing the violence of runaway militarism—needed for a secure, constant supply of hydrocarbons—and its evil twin, empire. That’s my view. IMAGE: A found poem. Text of an actual street sign, on a gravel road along the (Muted) Snake River between the states of OREGON & IDAHO, very close to where the music was composed.
