Sheep Killers

Originally Aired: December 28, 1938The Lone Ranger #924, "Sheep Killers," a bitter range conflict threatens to erupt into all-out war in Valley City. When sheep rancher Hammond discovers another hundred head of his prime sheep driven over a cliff in Sweetwater Canyon, suspicion immediately falls on the local cattlemen. Hammond's daughter Peggy defends cattleman Pete Lambert's innocence, putting her at odds with her father and his foreman Lefty Curtis, who expects to marry Peggy and eventually inherit the entire spread. The sheriff searches for proof, but the killings continue without witnesses or evidence.The Lone Ranger suspects more sinister forces at work. Disguising himself as Big Bill Nyberg, a notorious outlaw, he tests a theory in the general store and gets a revealing reaction from Lefty. Working with Tonto, the masked man pieces together that Lefty is actually Notch Hopkins, an escaped member of Big Bill's gang, and that two of Hammond's own men, Pedro and Fritz, are the actual sheep killers. Now the Lone Ranger must prove that Lefty orchestrated the crimes to drive out the cattlemen and gain control of the entire range for himself.
