Welcome to Shelley, Idaho! The town is located in eastern Idaho on the banks of the Snake River near the Blackfoot Mountains.  John Shelley, the town's namesake, moved to the area in 1892.  Shelley asked to railroad company to make a special stop to drop the supplies he ordered to build a small store and the railway agreed.  The railroad later put a spur in to supply the town which was established in 1904.  "The Idaho Spud Day" has been held annually in the town since 1927.  The event includes a parade, a spud tug of war with a mashed potato pit, and various other activities.  We hope you enjoy our trip to Shelley!  Small Town News--whose headline is it, anyway? @SmallTownNewsImprov
