Shepherd (Psalm 23)

from The Gateway Church Hosted by Various Guest Speakers

In this guest sermon, Pastor Patrick Joslyn opens one of the most familiar passages in Scripture and asks whether it's actually possible to live a Psalm 23 life: without lack, without fear, and from a place of rest. Drawing on his own long seasons of loneliness, chronic illness, and a cancer diagnosis, Patrick imagines David writing this psalm while hiding in a cave from King Saul. He shows that the psalm isn't wishful thinking but a worldview centered on the "with-God life." Contrasting the grind and escape of modern life with the restoration Jesus offers, Patrick reminds us that the life with God is not a life without valleys. It is a life where no valley is ever God-forsaken.
