Silk Road Series: Part 3 — #HANUMAN Where Gods Wear Capes: The Future of the Hero Film

シルクロード企画第３弾 映画『#HANUMAN』ヒーロー映画はどこにいくのか #HANUMAN — Where Is the Hero Film Headed? "Wherever there is righteousness, Lord Hanuman prevails." Hey, thanks for tuning in. I'm Mako, your movie talk host. This episode is the third installment of the Silk Road series: #HANUMAN, the Telugu-language superhero film 🐒🔱 This one topped worldwide box office charts for Indian cinema in 2024, with audiences at home hailing it as the birth of India's own MCU. It's an origin story — a small-time thief from a remote village stumbles upon a gem imbued with the power of Lord Hanuman and awakens as a superhero. The Marvel and DC references are fully intentional and on the surface. But right at the centre of it all stands a figure from Hindu mythology. The energy that fusion creates is something else entirely 🤔 The episode title asks: "Where is the hero film headed?" — but honestly, the question I keep coming back to is this: when you're eyes trained on Hollywood's idea of a hero, what do you actually see when an Indian mythological deity steps into that same frame? And maybe asking it that way is already missing the point. Either way — this one's worth watching 💪 ーーーーー Podcaster Mako (@_macobana) started out spilling all the movie thoughts that couldn't fit on a solo talk show called #Yomoyamakobanashi (#まこばな) — and now that movie talk has its own dedicated channel. There's never a shortage of films worth talking about! New episodes drop weekly or bi-weekly. Share your thoughts on Twitter with #リルパル #ReelPal — your tweets might get featured on the show!
