About 6:50 a.m. July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, a Mexican national who had spent decades building homes in Houston, loaded his crew into a van and headed for a construction site. Within minutes, unmarked federal vehicles surrounded him. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent opened fire. Salgado Araujo was pronounced dead at Ben Taub Hospital.
