Anton Chekhov was a pioneering Russian playwright and short-story writer. He came from adversity and worked his way through his difficulties. His life at home growing up was uncomfortable and he referred to his father, when writing to complain about his brother, “Let me ask you to recall that it was despotism and lying that ruined your mother’s youth.”Through talent and application he managed to make his work shine. Though a qualified physician, he wrote “medicine is my lawful wife, and literature is my mistress.” He is best know for his writing today…Here is my narration of his short story called The Lottery Ticket. It speaks of a couple, somewhat accustomed to married life and not noticeably enamoured with one another.
