[TW//Near Death Shooting, Serious Injury] South African Justin Govender was shot in the back by the police and he became a paraplegic at 17 years of age. What was a tragic moment at the time was to become one the most remarkable journeys of a lifetime. Justin hurtled into the abyss of feelings of hopelessness and despair waiting for a miracle to happen - only to hit rock bottom and realise he had to be the miracle. He went on to find himself through wheelchair basketball and it breathed new life into him. Justin had the absolute honour of representing his country South Africa at the World Champs in 2006 and two Paralympics, Beijing 2008 and London in 2012. His team became continental champions at the Inaugral All African Games held in Algeria in 2007. They also became the first team from Africa to win a game at the Paralympics in Beijing 2008 and went on to qualify for the Paralympics in London 2012.
