Should Guardians Call Up Velazquez | Cleveland Guardians News

Cleveland’s front office faces a high-stakes dilemma as September nears: should they call up scorching-hot 21-year-old Ralphy Velazquez from Triple-A, despite a crowded roster and a six-game win streak? With Rhys Hoskins potentially returning, David Fry waiting for time, and Kyle Manzardo also in Columbus, the decision is far from simple. Velazquez’s consistent, clutch hitting against tough competition has sparked buzz—and some insiders argue it’s a missed opportunity not to bring him up. While Manzardo may get the nod first if needed, the Guardians’ track record of bold moves—like last year’s Chase DeLauter surprise—suggests Velazquez’s numbers might force his way into the lineup sooner than expected.
