There are only on average 12K professional athletes in the entire country, but in the next 10 years Georgia alone has a demand for 70K high paying tech jobs. Special guests IDA BYRD-HILL, CEO of Automation Workz & KAY WOLFE, cybersecurity expert drops by to discuss how the demand for INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) jobs has opened up an opportunity for the AFRICAN AMERICAN community to reskill and meet that demand. After the recent shutdownof a major U.S. OIL PIPELINE by a foreign CYBER ATTACK the demand for more American born CYBERSECURITY professionals will likely increase. Currently the U.S. population in general is failing to meet the job demands of the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) age, because the companies often depend on immigrant IT professionals or even outsource the work altogether to other countries. These immigrant IT PROFESSIONAL often share they were focused on the technology field from a young age in hopes of earning high income to lift the rest of their family out of poverty. This is very similar to how some AFRICAN AMERICAN children are introduced to athletics at an early age and dream of becoming the next KOBE BYRANT or SERENA WILLIAMS. Should we follow the lead of these immigrant IT professionals and push more AFRICAN AMERICAN children into INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & CYBERSECURITY?
