Should Phillies Fans Be Panicking? (PST Show #477)

from The Philadelphia Sports Table | Philly Sports News & Views · host The Philadelphia Sports Table

The Philadelphia Phillies' recent series against the Mets almost had some folks jumping off a bridge. But the real question when taking a look at this Phillies season as a whole is; should Phillies fans be panicking? This week, Justin Klugh (@justin_klugh) from The Dirty Inning podcast and Baseball Prospectus joined us for a deep dive into this Phillies ball club as fans look forward to what could be a postseason and playoff berth for our beloved Phils. It was a fun and entertaining discussion with Justin as always! But first, we discussed whether or not we should have concerns about the Eagles defense this season. Last year, they were a bore and were 24th in DVOA. Will the new talent at all levels truly bring about improvement? (approx. 8:20)From there, we talked about what we're truly looking forward to and what we're not looking forward to as the football season is just about here. (approx. 15:45)Then we asked the question about whether or not the Sixers should look to acquire DeMarcus Cousins to back-up Joel Embiid this season? (approx. 24:05)We then talked about how some Phillies fans were really over the top this past weekend after a very disappointing series with the Mets. (approx. 32:15)What we threw down on the Table this week was a great discussion with Justin Klugh from The Dirty Inning podcast about how this Phillies has been performing, whether they can get into the postseason, and if some of the fan base is panicking too much. Where do the Phillies need to be most consistent during September? Analysis of Noah Syndergaard's performance thus far. Jean Segura's importance on this team. All of this and much more this week on the Table!
