Should Steelers Copy Eagles Defensive Scheme? | Steelers Morning Rush

from Steelers Afternoon Drive · host Pro Football Insiders

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's whether the Steelers should be looking to steal the scheme the Philadelphia Eagles used to shut down the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia approached the problem of facing the Chiefs with a similar approach, spending most of their game with a four-man front and a Nickel or Dime sub package behind. The only major difference was the Eagles using two high safeties, while the Steelers stuck to just Minkah Fitzpatrick off the ball. The Steelers were in a better run-defending posture, but the Eagles had more help available against the pass.  That, combined with Philly''s better pass rush from the interior of the defensive line, was the major difference.
