Should We Abolish the Electoral College?

University of California Professor Loren Collingwood researches and teaches American politics, with a special focus on campaigns, elections, and race and ethnic politics. He is currently completing a book on biracial electoral politics with a particular focus on the impact of demographic change.  He has been published in American Politics Research, Political Research Quarterly, Journal of Information Technology and Politics, the R Journal, Electoral Studies, Presidential Studies Quarterly and other peer reviewed journals.  He received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Washington in 2012. Prior to graduate school he was a researcher and analyst for Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, a Washington, D.C.-based political polling firm. He worked for the Carol Roberts congressional campaign in South Florida, the Campaign Finance Institute, and as an intern on Capitol Hill. He is an active observer of real world politics and is committed to testing and evaluating how accurately academic theories reflect the "on the ground" politics of campaigns.
