Should You Bother with Cupping Therapy? A 3000 Year Old Medical Practice

from Should I Bother?

Close your eyes. Now try to picture the day you watched Michael Phelps in the Rio 2016 Olympics, gliding through the water with loads of weird circular bruises on his back. “The f**k are those?”, you may have pondered as you watched him pick up yet, another gold medal. But did you know, those circles were in fact a result... of cupping therapy?! Also practiced by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow - quite fitting of Hollywood’s biggest wellness guru - cupping therapy was revived in 2004 as a "hot new celebrity trend”. Justin Bieber, Kim K, Serena Williams and loads of other popular people, soon jumped on the band wagon. But, WTF is it? Believe it or not, cupping therapy is something that's been practiced for over 3000 years and oddly enough, this is likely the first time you’re hearing of it.Although it's stood the test of time, is it a therapy you should bother trying? Especially, if you’re not a world-renowned athlete or celeb?  Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
