Shout Out You, Black Woman

from Black Convergence · host Brandi Grayson

Brandi Grayson is joined in-studio by Dana Pellebon, executive director of RCC, for the hour. Brandi and Dana check in with each other and kick off the show with some spoken word, shouting out black women. What is it like to work in their spaces, here in Madison and Dane County? The conversation includes aspects from a recent piece by Sabrina Madison at Madison365. From there, Brandi and Dana discuss how colorism impacts the work the are doing in these spaces here in Madison. How can we as a community address these problems? Dana shares reading recommendations from Madison's piece, and a couple of her own as well. But it is important to remember that not everyone that identifies as black are treated the same in the world. To wrap up the show, Brandi and Dana talk about what it is like to raise sons and help them navigate our schools. What happens when the focus is on behavior and not relationships? Brandi shares her thoughts. To learn more about this show and all of the programming across the Civic Media network, head over to https://civicmedia.us/shows to see the entire broadcast line up. Radio Mystery Theater and Mystery Theater, sometimes abbreviated as CBSRMT) was a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was carried by the NPR satellite feed. The format was similar to that of classic old time radio shows like The Mysterious Traveler and The Whistler, in that the episodes were introduced by a host (E. G. Marshall) who provided pithy wisdom and commentary throughout. Unlike the hosts of those earlier programs, Marshall is fully mortal, merely someone whose heightened insight and erudition plunge the listener into the world of the macabre (in a manner similar to that of The Man in Black on yet another old time radio program, Suspense). As with Himan Browns prior Inner Sanctum Mysteries, each episode of CBS Radio Mystery Theater opened and closed with the ominous sound of a creaking crypt door, accompanied by Marshalls disturbing utteran Lakewood Church Lakewood Church This is the podcast from Lakewood Church in Black Mountain, NC!www.lakewoodbmt.com  The Healing Fire- Unshaken, Unbroken Janelle Roy Not your average healing podcast.
