So, how much have you moved today? That's a simple question. How much did you move? Did you get off your rear end and go move?

I'm going to check myself in just a moment. Well, hello, and welcome to the Daily Grateful Night. My name is Michael Kroos, and it's Wednesday, and it's a rainy Wednesday. All right, you know, it's one of those days.

This big storm came across the country. It doesn't bother Florida much, but we do get some... All those bad storms come across, all the tornadoes and everything. It makes me nervous, but we came out of this okay.

So are you having a good day? I hope you are. Are you having a bad day? I hope you're not.

Are you having a bad day or are you having a bad minute? I don't know. Back to the show. How much have you moved today?

Moved today. Because I don't wear one of those watch thingies, or an Apple watch, or a Garmin watch, whatever. I used to have one. I used to have a couple of them.

Fitness watches. I don't wear them. Let me tell you why I don't wear them. Because they don't pick up your steps when you go to the grocery store.

And it's pissed me off. Why doesn't it pick up your steps when you go to the grocery store? Because it knows that you step because your arms are moving when you walk. When I'm in the grocery store, I'm pushing a cart.

I have tested this. It does not work. So that just makes me mad. So I just went back to simple.

I have in my formerly Glordane stained hands, I have an iPhone, an Apple appliance, as they say. And it has a little thingy on it. Let me find my little thingy. There it is.

It looks like a foot. It's an app. And I push the foot, and it tells me how many steps I've had. Because I keep my phone in my pocket, and it tells me how many steps I've had.

Now, a couple of years ago, I was really big on this. I wanted to do 10,000 steps a day. I said, well, you know what? I used to do 5,500 to 6,000 steps a day.

But never less than 5,000 steps a day. Never less. All right? And then as I got older, that became harder.

And then I just kind of got away from it all a little bit. Well, then about, I don't know, a year ago, I started really thinking about my health, and started thinking about my mortality, and all these. I've been making all these moves, man. I've been making all these moves to get in better shape.

So, you know, it is something that I want to do. I also want to stop saying, you know, but I will work on that. I will mentally work on that. I will self-hypnotize my job.

Anyway, it isn't about staying fit. It's about optimizing. Okay? That's what it is.

It's about optimizing everything. So I like to get up, and I like to move. Today, it rained all day. It was horrible.

So far, so far, I have 500 steps. How pathetic. I think it's a good day right now, at this age, if I have 2,500 steps in a day. For me.

Not you, but for me. And by moving, it boosts all kinds of things. It boosts my mental health. It makes me feel better.

I feel, you know, much better. The other thing I'm doing now that I wasn't doing before is I'm doing Ozympic. As a matter of fact, it's Wednesday. So I gave myself my injection today.

All about myself. I gave myself my injection. And guess what? I'm not hungry.

I'm just never hungry. I went over and ate dinner today with my favorite ex-wife. It's ex-wife number two, Diane. There's three ex-wives.

But ex-wife number two, Diane, she invited me over for dinner. We didn't eat anything because she's on Ozympic, too. We had very, very, very, very small meals. And then I'm done.

That's it. That's the only... I had a sandwich earlier today. I had a peanut butter sandwich.

So the peanut butter sandwich and the little bit that I ate over there, which was some kind of beefy thing with a vegetable or two. And I didn't eat much. I really didn't eat much because I had the sandwich. But now I'm done eating.

I also will have one of those boost drinks. I get them at one of those clubs where I pay $1.31 each for them. And on Sundays, I'll have two. But most days right now, I'm just having one.

Two seems a bit excessive. And that's what I'm eating. And guess what? Between getting my butt up and moving and not eating, I've lost a bunch of weight.

I started off at 285. I'm 5'9". That's a big boy. And right now, I'm down to 268.

So I don't do math. But anyway, that's where it is. And that can change. And I don't weigh myself every day.

I weigh myself every so once in a while. But the important thing that I'm doing is moving. And so far today, I have not moved. So I will get out after I'm done with the podcast.

And I will move some more because the rain has stopped. I'm going to zoom around the neighborhood until I get up to at least my 2,500 steps. The other thing that moving does, it enhances my strength and flexibility. It really does.

So, you know, and the other thing that my doctor tells me is that it supports cardiovascular health. Well, my ticker is in really good shape. I have it checked often. And it's in really, really, really good shape, which is surprising as hell.

But you see, I never ate well, but I never smoked cigarettes. And I don't drink. And I don't do drugs. I inhale nothing into my lungs.

And it's just, you know, the other thing that it does, you know, getting out and moving, it helps to, you know, regulate your weight. But more importantly, your metabolism. Because the more you move, the more you want to move, the better you feel. And they say that it enhances your brain.

And I have to agree with that after, you know, doing some more work. By the way, because I'm old, I have this free membership to just about any damn gym I want through this program that comes through Medicare. And I joined a gym around the corner. Have I been?

One time. Do I need to go more? I do. So I'm going to start that.

And I'm not fixing to get ready to do that. I'm getting ready to do that. I just need to get my walking up. I would like to get my walking up to 3,000 steps a day.

And I should be able to do that. And you know what? When you're out moving and you're doing stuff, you're part of the community. When I'm walking through the neighborhood, I see people.

I talk. I say, hi, how are you? I pet little doggies. You know, little kids laugh at me.

I laugh at them. It's just really good. Am I going to join a sports team? No.

Am I going to start playing golf again? You know, that's not a terribly bad idea. I used to play golf at this course that no longer exists. And what I liked about it is that only very few people use golf cards.

I don't like using a golf card. I want to walk. And that's what I want to do. I'll take one of those things on wheels, put my golf bag in, and I'll pull it along.

But I like to walk. And the golf course that I used to do that, gone. I really like that. I've got to find another one where I can do that.

All of the small courses seem to have disappeared because they turn into condos around here. It's just that way. So, what are we going to do to move? Well, we're going to get out.

We're going to walk. We're going to do some exercise. You can walk in the house. I should have walked in the house.

And I used to do that. But, you know, movement is going to elevate my health. It'll make me feel better. It'll make you feel better, too.

So get off your ass and go move. Nothing happens well in your life unless you're moving. So if you don't move, your life's going to just... I've got a friend, a little older than me, sits on his damn couch all day.

He can't walk out to the damn mailbox. Now, how pathetic. I can get out and walk. We'll see you tomorrow.

We'll see you tomorrow.
