What this episode covers
The much anticipated alligator gar episode. This comes on the heels of Texas Parks and Wildlife’s proposed regulatory changes that would end ALL bowfishing for alligator gar at night in the state of Texas. Also, it would implement a maximum 4 foot rule on the Trinity River from Dallas to Houston (perhaps the entire nation’s premiere fishery). These are just a few of the changes that Commission Chair Ralph Duggins is trying to get passed at the March TPWD Commission Meeting. On this week’s show we analyze both sides of the story. First with longtime bowfishing guide Cody Sole of Extreme Bowfishing and then with TPWD Executive Director Carter Smith. I will give my take on the proposals as well. If things are in need of a change in direction, fine. I just want to see the science to support it.
