Recently, President Trump said he would consider using the Insurrection Act if federal courts prevented him from deploying the National Guard to protect federal buildings and conduct law enforcement operations. The comments came a day after a federal judge blocked the president from sending National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon, which Trump claims has been taken over by left-wing “domestic terrorists.” Similar to any civil unrest, various attacks occur in isolated areas. It is not some widespread conquest. However, using terms like "insurrection" and "overturning Posse Comitatus" is a sure sign that there is no stopping a war where the enemy is within—and therefore, everyone is a suspect.
