The Sun unleashed an absolutely massive G4 geomagnetic solar storm that hit the planet yesterday. It was the most powerful solar flare that we have seen in 2025. Additionally, an “energetic” and fast-moving coronal mass ejection, or CME, was hurled out by the Sun on Tuesday from the same area as the solar flare. The Space Weather Prediction Center has issued power grid warnings for 11 northern states, stating that the electromagnetic effects of the G4 would cause issues with electrical grids for states poleward of the 45th parallel.
