Babies no longer need a woman to be born as the egg and sperm can be brought together in labs and nurtured with "good" and "approved DNA." With every perfect baby chosen, many embryos are thrown away. For now, this approach has been adopted mostly within an elite social circle. But one day, maybe not far off, it could change the way many babies are made everywhere, posing new moral and political questions as reproduction could increasingly become an outcome not of sex but of genetic preselection and data-mining. Both eugenics and transhumanism aim to replace traditional/religious morals and norms with “science-based” strategies for repopulating society.
