You may have noticed we took a little break...but we're back! After a few years of hosting podcast conversations on the side, we are expanding the table at Making Room by Gather. Over the course of the next few months you will notice that the audio in the episodes has improved,  our mission statement for the show is more refined and amazing guests continue to take a seat at our table! Through all of this we have welcomed on an amazing team to produce the show! In just a few short weeks, you will also begin to have access to the video recording of the interview as well. These will be hosted on Youtube with direct links in the show notes. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
