It's time for a SHOWDOWN! Let's join Elijah on Mount Carmel, where the fire falls and Yahweh is shown to be the only true God. Here's what we'll talk about:→ The SHOWDOWN is always to resolve “DI-VISION,” the divided mind that empowers false gods. "How long will you stagger between two opinions?" → THE FIRE: The fire of God that falls in the showdown is THE REFINER’S FIRE. "Our God is a consuming fire," and he always burns to heal us and make us whole. → THE RAIN: After the fire falls, PRAY FOR RAIN! The SHOWDOWN is really about the RAIN. Once the people turned away from the Baalim and Ashtaroth, back to the one true God, it was time for the drought to end. After the rain, the land is healed, and the harvest breaks forth into abundant fruitfulness. * 2 Chronicles 7: 14 – If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.* Song of Solomon 2:10–13 (NRSV): 10 My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; 11 for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. 12 The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. 13 The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance." The rain is coming in YOUR life!
