Showers and Train Changes in Sydney
from Wake Up Sydney
Wake Up Sydney brings you your Sunday morning update for 16 August 2026, covering the latest on weather, traffic and trains across Sydney. It’s a cool, grey and showery winter start across the city, with the CBD sitting at 11.1°C and heading for a top of 19°C. Parramatta starts at 10.7°C with a high of 17°C, while Bondi is milder at 15°C, also reaching 17°C. Keep an umbrella and jacket close, with showers expected throughout the day. On the roads, it’s a smooth start to Sunday with no traffic incidents reported across Sydney, making it an unusually easy morning for drivers. For public transport, major weekend trackwork is causing significant changes across the train network. Buses are replacing trains on parts of the Inner West, Western, Richmond, Blue Mountains, T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra, and South Coast lines. Key changes include replacement buses between Ashfield and Central, Bathurst/Emu Plains/Richmond and Parramatta, and Central and Bondi Junction. South Coast services are mostly running only as far as Hurstville, where passengers will need to change for city services. The Airport Line is operating normally. If you’re catching trains today, check your trip before heading out and allow extra travel time.
