SHOWING MERCY

from The Kingdom Of God First Podcast. · host Tewe Kolade Felix

Devotional Message: Scripture: "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy." – Matthew 5:7 Mercy is a divine expression of love. In Matthew 5:7, Jesus reminds us that those who show mercy will, in turn, receive it. Mercy goes beyond withholding judgment—it extends compassion, forgiveness, and kindness, even when it’s undeserved. It's a reflection of God's own heart toward us. To be merciful is to carry the burdens of others, to forgive quickly, and to offer grace where offense has occurred. It is not weakness, but strength under control. When we show mercy, we align ourselves with God's nature and reveal His character to a broken world. Living mercifully doesn’t mean ignoring sin or enabling harmful behavior. It means responding with love, understanding, and a willingness to seek restoration over revenge. As we remember how deeply God has shown us mercy, we are empowered to extend the same to those around us. Today, ask yourself: Am I quick to judge or quick to show mercy? How can I reflect God’s compassion in my relationships today? Prayer: Almighty Father, thank You for the mercy You’ve shown me. Help me to extend that same mercy to others—with grace, compassion, and forgiveness. Let my heart be soft and my actions reflect Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
