Traditionally Shri Satyanarayan Katha should be heard either on Thursday, Purnima (Full Moon), or EkadashiThe significance of Katha'Satya' means truth and 'Narayan' is Vishnu; the puja symbolizes that Truth is the supreme, eternal, and guiding principle for a righteous life. It is believed that performing the Katha removes obstacles, negative energy, and karmic blockages, bringing success, good health, and prosperity.  The stories in the Katha teach the importance of faith, devotion, and following the path of righteousness, leading to internal purification. The puja is often performed as a thanksgiving for the fulfillment of desires, such as marriage, childbirth, or career success. The ceremony brings families and communities together, fostering a sense of unity and togetherness.
