China is the world’s biggest cell phone market. There are now nearly 1.3 billion cellphone users in the country, 94 percent of the population. The top five provinces and municipalities are home to at least 110 cell phones for every one hundred people. The number of users choosing broadband mobile internet services has skyrocketed to 674 million, a third of whom use 4G services.In addition, China has over 200 million home broadband users. With such a huge online population, it’s not surprising that china's go-to shopping website taobao.com, where anyone can sell or buy products and services, has become the undisputed industry leader. Its gross merchandise volume in the second quarter of this year was equivalent to a whopping 67 billion US dollars, more than the annual GDP of more than 130 countries around the world.
