English SummaryToday, I have a small piece of happy news to share.Yoshida Kenko-san’s Kindle book, “The Miracle SNS That Sells Without Going Viral: Substack,” has been published. I’m one of 59 contributors whose writing appears in this book.I haven’t finished reading everything yet, but I wanted to share what I’m feeling at this stage.Skimming through the contents, the book starts with how Substack came to be and how it grew — and its philosophy of “building a deep relationship before you sell anything,” rather than chasing virality. It also lays out concrete ways to use Notes throughout the day — discovery in the morning, testing ideas at midday, guiding readers to your work in the evening. Reading it, I found myself nodding along more than once, thinking “so that’s how it works.”But the first thing I actually did when I opened the book was search for my own contribution. Finding my piece among more than 200 pages was genuinely exciting. At the same time, rereading it made me feel a little embarrassed — “I could have written this a bit better.”I’ve also started reading a few of the other contributors’ pieces. Even just a handful in, each one tells a different story about what Substack means to them, and I haven’t gotten tired of reading yet. When I first started on Substack, I imagined I’d be writing alone. But through joining a collaborative magazine, conversations with different people, and now this opportunity to contribute, I’ve noticed something: my own story has started sitting alongside so many others’.This book holds 59 different stories, each shaped differently. I’ve only read a handful so far, but I plan to keep making my way through it, at my own pace.If you've made a Substack account but haven't really been using it, I hope this book — or this post — gives you a little push to actually start. This is a public episode.
