Side B - Track 1

from Side B: The Deeper Cut, Daily · host Cam Tait

SIDE B — Episode 1: The Origin Story.Fifty years ago, a thirteen-year-old kid sat on a basement floor in Edmonton, listening to 630 CHED Radio. A gentleman named Bob Comfort came on the air — and nothing was ever quite the same after that.Bob had a segment called Posters for Your Mind. He'd take the week's top song and pull the human story out of it. It was unlike anything I'd heard. And sitting there, I thought: maybe I can do that. What followed was a broadcasting course, a record collection full of scratches, and an instructor who — wisely — kept me fifty feet from the turntable. That was almost fifty years ago. The equipment has changed. The dream hasn't.This is Episode 1 of Side B. It's my origin story — why this podcast exists, what took so long, and what's finally made it possible. Including a part about cerebral palsy I don't talk around.Every episode ends with a song. This one closes with Trisha Yearwood."The Song Remembers When."It'll make sense when you hear it.Welcome to Side B. Pull up a chair.
