Siemens forklift driver rescues drowning kids

While an early winter freeze gripped most of China, a heroic story from Siemens melted many hearts.When Huang Xin, a 38-year-old employee at Siemens Electrical Apparatus Ltd., Suzhou, risked his own life to save two children from drowning, his kindness, bravery and courage shined through.“I didn't think too much, it's emergency. I just did what I could,” the humble forklift driver spoke lightly of his noble deeds. Huang Xin, a warehouse dispatcher at SEAL, comes under spotlight for saving two drowning children.What Huang deemed as “nothing worth mentioning” changed the destinies of two children indeed. The dramatic rescue took place in the windy morning of November 29. Huang was on his way to work, when he suddenly heard a desperate cry for help. It turned out to be a little boy struggling in the roadside river, barely able to keep his head above the water.The bystanders on the scene got their hearts in their mouths, but no one dared to take one step forward. Without any hesitation, Huang charged straight into the bone-chilling water, only to find there were two kids, not just one, caught in severe distress!“I can’t give up any one of them – it’s just a strong conviction in my mind,” said Huang, who joined Siemens in 2006. “I myself am a father of a 15-year-old boy.”So he firmly grabbed a kid in each arm, exhausted his strength to pull the pair from the river’s depths, and finally brought them back to their anxious parents, who had burst into tears on the bank.The two-year-old boy and girl were quickly taken to the hospital and have been out of danger after intensive treatment.Huang’s heroic action deserves cheers and applauses. But it’s not just the lifesavers making a difference. Everyone can be a hero – whether it’s about coming to the aid of those in need, treading unchartered territories on innovation frontiers, or serving customers all the way to success.
