Geschilderde sieraden in portretten. Zagen ze er echt zo uit? Bestonden ze überhaupt? In het Amsterdam Museum krijgen we antwoord. Naast het portret uit 1890 van verzamelaar Sophia Lopez Suasso-de Bruijn beheert het museum ook de schitterende broche en armband waarmee ze is afgebeeld. En, er is meer. Veel meer. Aan het einde van de 19e eeuw laat Sophia namelijk zo’n 300 juwelen na aan de stad Amsterdam.In twee afleveringen praat ik hierover met curator Thijs Boers. In dit eerste deel duiken we in het leven van deze interessante vrouw. Wie was Sophia? Als zus, vrijgezel, echtgenote en vooral als verzamelaar.
