Siggi’s Secret Sauce: How a Nostalgic Craving Turned into a Sales Triumph | CEO Sales Huddle with Che Brown

from CEO Sales Huddle with Che Brown · host chebrown

When Siggi Hilmarsson moved from Iceland to the US for business school, he faced a problem familiar to many expats - missing a taste of home. In Siggi’s case, it was the thick and wholesome Icelandic yogurt known as Skyr. The yogurts available in the US were a far cry from what he grew up with – overly processed and loaded with sugar. Interesting Fact: Did you know that Siggi’s initial batches were made in his drafty Manhattan loft? Talk about a humble beginning! Siggi’s journey took an unexpected turn when Whole Foods wanted to stock their yogurt in all their stores across the country. This was a dream come true, but it came with a significant challenge. The increase in demand caught Siggi off guard, and his New York-based facility couldn’t handle the production volume. He had to pause production, a painful decision knowing people wanted his product but couldn’t get it. Siggi learned a crucial lesson from this setback - planning for success is as important as achieving it. Instead of letting success catch him off guard, he now plans meticulously. In 2013, anticipating growing demand, Siggi’s transitioned to a larger plant and opened a second facility in Wisconsin as a backup. Now, when demand rolls in, Siggi is ready to meet it head-on. Relate to Sales: Just as Siggi planned for the success of his yogurt, having a robust sales strategy and leadership in place prepares your business for growth and profitability. My Big Takeaway: Trust Your Gut, Have a System, and Take Breaks. Siggi Hilmarsson’s journey teaches us that while education and analysis are essential, trusting your intuition is equally crucial. Building a successful business requires a blend of calculated decisions and the courage to trust your instincts. Join the www.CEOSalesHuddle.com for sales growth and business strategies. Stay Hungry.
