Through her own experience of becoming a single parent, Zoe Desmond wanted to change the often isolated picture for people in similar situations. So she set up the Frolo app, aimed at helping to foster a community focussed on the joy of solo parenting, rather than the negative stereotypes often perpetuated by society and the media. It was through the app that Zoe met journalist Rebecca Cox, herself a single mother to a young child, who shared many of the same concerns as her and others in their community. So they decided to write a book about it, How To Be A Happy Single Parent, a practical handbook for anyone parenting alone, or thinking about doing so. This week they chat to Jen about their experiences, the shared experiences of single parents, how society could better support them, and thee joy to be found in bringing up a child on your own.
