Simmons and Olugbode Ignite Missouri Offense | Missouri Tigers Football News

Missouri’s offense exploded in their season opener thanks to a dazzling connection between QB Austin Simmons and WR Donovan Olugbode, who combined for eight catches, 116 yards, and two touchdowns in the first half — helping the Tigers score 37 points while they were on the field. This chemistry, long missing from last year’s struggling offense, was praised by Olugbode himself for Simmons’ poise and accuracy, and validated by Coach Drinkwitz’s quick trust in the young QB. Olugbode, a sophomore breakout star, showcased improved yards-after-catch ability and resilience, outperforming any Tiger receiver’s single-game total from last season. While both players still have room to grow — Simmons needs better execution, Olugbode needs more ball security — their early success signals a bright future for Missouri as they gear up for a tough showdown against Kansas.
