Sin Not (John 5: 1 - 15)

from CV Community Church · host CVCC Media

In the sermon today we see how important it is to take our stand for Jesus. It does not matter if society, our friends, our family, even religious institutions, turn against Him. We, as servants of Christ, those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior, must take our stand. Sadly, in this story, John the disciple, tells us of a time where Jesus heals a man, who for many years, lay cripple and after this miraculous healing, the man was more afraid of what the religious institutions and leaders of his day thought then him receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior. Jesus warns him that if he does continue down this path, something worse may happen. Instead of seizing the opportunity to place his faith in Jesus, he goes and throws our Lord under the bus, trying to get the accusations away from himself and place them on the Lord. This gives us an insight on how depraved and wicked the heart of man can be and that we, as God’s people, must remain vigilant, not to have the concerns that come from this world but to be concerned with the things of God.
