Sermon Notes: GALATIANS…THE GOSPEL OF GRACE…GIVES US FREEDOM THROUGH FAITH…TO BRING GLORY TO GOD SATAN, THE FATHER OF LIES, OFFERS GLORY NOW, BUT FAILS TO MENTION THE CERTAINTY OF ETERNAL SUFFERING LATER. GOD ALMIGHTY, PROMISES SUFFERING NOW, BUT GUARANTEES GLORY FOR ETERNITY BEFORE SALVATION WE WERE JUST LIKE THE WORLD…BUT BEING PRESERVED BY GOD Galatians 4:1-3 ESV I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, [2] but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. [3] In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. SINCE SALVATION…THROUGH ADOPTION…WE HAVE INHERITED GOD…WHO GIVES US EVERYTHING HIS SON POSSESSES. Galatians 4:4-7 ESV But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, [5] to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. [6] And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" [7] So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Romans 8:16-17 ESV The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
