Throughout his career Mel has played in the symphonic orchestras of Havana and Camagüey, he has participated in several teaching and performing projects in Europe, he led the group Black Gandhi, and has participated in groups such as Skyland, Barcelona Percussion Project, Man Ex Maquina, and Gone Gone Beyond. Currently, he’s in New York portraying Ibrahim Ferrer in the Buena Vista Social Club musical on BroadwayThis conversation complements Were You Listening?
