Single Serving Slashers Appreciation Month- ”Stage Fright”
from Cinema Degeneration · host Cinema Degeneration
Carrying over last months Appreciation Month topic through the opening days of November we continue to bring to you a celebration of 'Single Serving Slashers', slasher movies that never got a sequel. There are plenty of chapters in the sagas of Chucky, Jason, and Freddy; however, we wanted to honor those often overlooked slashers that only graced the screen in one thrilling film. For our 11th episode and quite the oddball flick when it comes to slashers, we bring to you the Italian 1987 lensed "STAGEFRIGHT" from director Michele Soavi (Cemetery Man). This rare Italian slasher (not a Giallo) tells the tale of a homicidal maniac that targets a group of young theater actors that have locked themselves in said theater for a rehearsal that may just be their last! The usual inventive camera work, crazy special effects, impressive Simon Boswell score and a tight script written by George Eastman makes this film quite the delight. Join our hosts and frequent podcasting partners Cameron Scott and musician/filmmaker Thomas Berdinski (Giant Rubber Monster Movie) as they take a deep dive into this 80's Italian favorite that asks the question of will anyone survive a serial killer in the theater of death? "In case it slipped your mind, this show opens in just one week from now, and as you can see, those people up there literally stink."
