‘Sinister’ Footage of ‘Faceless Thugs’ Threatening Politicians in Ireland Condemned - 03/12/2025

A criminal investigation is under way into a video threat against politicians in the Newry, Mourne and Down council area.The threat was made in a video posted on social media of three masked men with what appear to be handguns and a rifle in front of the Tricolour.A statement read by one of the men said a group, calling itself 'The New Republican Movement', is frustrated with "mass immigration" and "the sexual indoctrination of children in school".He went on to refer to all locally elected political representatives as "legitimate targets".SDLP Councillor for Slieve Gullion DEA in Newry, Pete Byrne, joined us on The Agenda this morning to talk to us some more about this and to give us his reaction to the disturbing video.
