Sir Tamati Muturangi Reedy
from Te Ahi Kaa
This year marks the 31st anniversary of the Ngata Memorial Lectures. The annual Ngāti Pōrou gathering acknowledges the legacy of leader and politician Ta Apirana Ngata, and provides a forum to discuss issues affecting Ngāti Pōrou today including politics and te reo māori. The idea to host a lecture series came to Sir Tamati Reedy in 1982 while he was studying in Alabama as he recalls with Justine Murray.
